Oxygen and pressure.
Care designed around you.
Hyperbaric therapy combines breathing oxygen with an environment at higher than atmospheric pressure. The equipment, oxygen concentration and protocol are essential parts of every treatment.
At Hiperbárica Costa Rica, we use a black OXY SPACES S-190C chair-style chamber. Before you begin, we review your goals and medical history to explain the options appropriate for your situation.

Information to help you decide
Before
your first session.
Answers to some of the most common questions. For questions about your own situation, let’s begin with an assessment.
Do I need an assessment before starting?
Yes. An assessment reviews your medical history, medications, goals and possible contraindications. This information helps determine whether starting is appropriate and which protocol applies.
What does it feel like inside the chamber?
You may feel pressure changes in your ears, similar to flying. You will receive instructions on equalizing pressure and reporting any discomfort. Tolerance is assessed individually.
How long is a session, and how many will I need?
The duration, frequency and number of sessions are recommended after your assessment. We offer individual sessions and plans of 5 or 10 sessions; choosing a package does not replace a professional recommendation.
How should I prepare?
Before your appointment, the team will explain which clothing, items and products are permitted for the equipment being used. Report any recent health changes and follow the specific preparation instructions.
Are all chambers and protocols equivalent?
No. Pressure, oxygen concentration, equipment and the condition being treated all matter. Our reported pressure range is 1.5–1.7 ATA. This does not automatically equal the hospital protocols used for certain wounds or other indications. Your assessment determines the scope of the service and when specialist care is needed.
Does the therapy replace other treatments?
No. When indicated, it is integrated into the appropriate care plan. Benefits depend on the condition, protocol and individual response; a particular outcome or recovery time is not guaranteed.
